The kids have a new "favorite place" as I used to call it when I was little. This hollow log is where I believe we will spend a lot of time this year. It's only about a half mile walk on a trail from our back yard. When the lake floods it washes up a lot of large woody debris. It also kills a lot of the trees that grow in this area as they are flood intolerant. So there are many logs to choose from. It looks like the area will be pretty overgrown with vines come summer however so we'll have to do most of our exploring during cooler, less green times.
Gus is fattening up after his adventure this winter.
Another hollow log, that is standing. I photographed this one in a previous post.
